About Gemstones

Gemstones

I use a variety of real, earth-sourced gemstones. Including amethyst, aquamarine, citrine, diopside, emerald, garnet, iolite, peridot, ruby, sapphire, topaz, tourmaline and zircon.

All of the gemstones used in Artefact Fine Jewellery are earth created.  None of the gemstones that I use are ‘man made’ or synthetic.  

Many natural gemstones are traditionally treated to improve their colour, with some of these techniques dating back to the early Greek and Egyptian eras.  Other treatments such as irradiation have been in use since the early 1900s.
